#Sacrifice is a part of life for all #leaders. The best also make it a learning opportunity. #QuoteADay #Day316 #edchat #edu #VeteransDay
Today is Veteran's Day, a day where we honor the sacrifice made by veterans of all wars. Going to war is one of life's ultimate sacrifices, and I can't imagine a more amazing thing to do for one's country than serve to protect the life and liberty of others. Thank you veterans.
All leaders need to become comfortable making sacrifices. It isn't easy, but a servant leader must sacrifice his/her needs many a time, to provide for the needs of those being served.
However, sacrifice doesn't need to be seen as a negative. Rather, the best leaders understand that since sacrifice is a necessity, we might as well make the best of it. This means seeing a sacrifice as a learning opportunity, and one that can help us become better at the work that we do.
Sacrificing doesn't have to be seen as "giving up." Rather it can be seen as "giving towards." By thinking of sacrifice as a way to further ourselves as leaders and learners, we can be more comfortable with putting our needs on the back burner, in favor of those we lead and learn with.
